The Varalakshmi vrat or pooja is popularly celebrated in the South-Indian states,

help of Kumkum, the Puja plate is arranged and the entire samagri required for pooja
is kept aside.
The next day, the Varalakshmi Vrat and Varalakshmi pooja are performed for the
entire day and in the evening, respectively, to welcome Goddess Lakshmi into our
homes and bless our family with good health, wealth, and longevity.
